Staying Alive! Phillies Win extend a Game 6 in NY
Cliff Lee came out and pitched another great game, he wasnt superb like the first but kept them pretty much at bay… Chase Utley came in the clutch again tying Reggie jackson with 5 home runs in a world series, Ubanez finally came out swinging and so did Ruiz and Feliz… the key was the Phillies batters came thru 1-4, and jump all over AJ Burnett, but Howard still struggling tying a world series record for 12 strikeouts dating back to the 1980 World Series Phillies vs Kansas City.
Now there going back to NY for game 6, everyone going to be available to pitch for that game, in my opinion give Pedro Martinez the start, he performed very well against the Yankees in the 2nd game, holding the Yankees to 3-4 runs is going to be key for the Phillies, the Phils bats have to come alive again in this game to help Pedro, realistically he cant shut them out but keep them only to a few runs is going to be crucial. If he struggles early you got Happ, Coles and even Cliff Lee.
Howard needs to go back to basics and to focus on his mechanics to get back into the swing of things, he needs to be very patient at the plate, there not pitching strikes to him, he just fishing to much chasing balls out the strike zone! He needs to be pushing off his back heel using his hips to crack into the balls instead of rocking and reaching out at balls! Plus honestly if he would stay off those pitches he’ll be on base more often.
What was important today that most of the batters were patient and not getting deep into the counts looking for a pitch to hit and early putting pressure on AJ to pitch fastballs, which rocked his confidence!
